STUDENT ATHLETE SIGNS LETTER OF INTENT TO PLAY AT THE NEXT LEVEL
Today, Prestonwood Christian Academy (PCA) North honored Jaden Matthews who signed a Letter of Intent to continue his education and play sports at the collegiate level.
Having been an integral part of the PCA North Athletics community since his sophomore year, Jaden signed to run track at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas. “Jaden has always had his heart set on the Lord,” said Head Track Coach Michael Roach. “The way he works doesn’t simply reflect his goals and what he’s trying to achieve, but his commitment to Christ. That’s what he puts first every single day. I have no doubt he will continue that strong example at Ouachita Baptist University. I am incredibly proud of the athlete and the young man in Christ he has become. His work ethic, toughness and ability to rise to the moment have earned him this opportunity.”
During his track and field career at PCA North, Jaden demonstrated consistent growth and excellence across multiple events. As a sophomore, he competed at the junior varsity level throughout the season before earning a varsity spot ahead of the district meet, recording a long jump of approximately 16 feet.
As a junior, Jaden increased his long jump distances to 18 and 19 feet while also competing in the open 200-meter dash and the 4x200-meter relay. He placed second in the district, fourth in the region and seventh overall in Class 2A in the state of Texas in the long jump.
In his senior year, Jaden continued his upward trajectory, reaching jumps of 19 and 20 feet. He matched the school record and will look to break it at the regional meet on April 30. At the district meet, he earned first place in the long jump and was named district champion. He also competed in the triple jump and on the 4x100-, 4x200- and 4x400-meter relay teams, all of which recorded top-three finishes. Jaden scored the most team points among all boys competitors at the district meet and received the Boys High Point award.
During his track and field career at PCA North, Jaden was named one of the program’s top contributors, leaving a legacy of hard work, versatility and competitive excellence.
